Experience the Joy of Scottish Dancing.

We are running two classes in Leeds this year suitable for beginners.

Monday afternoon is an existing low impact class. The class has been running for several years and is a good mix of beginners and dancers with some experience.

The Wednesday evening class has live music and is for dancers who prefer to attend outside ‘9 to 5’ working hours. It provides a structured introduction to Scottish Country Dancing including steps and formations to covers a range of dances which appears in many social situations. e.g. ceilidhs and weddings.

Term Dates

The term ends in the week commencing 16 December.

The Thursday evening class, which meets throughout the year, will not meet on Boxing Day but will be back to celebrate the New Year with a dance to live music on 2 January (7.00 – 9.45pm)

This friendly social session offers low impact dancing for all. The class builds on the foundation taught in previous years or in the taster course and is also suitable for anyone refreshing existing skills, perhaps after taking a break from dancing. The half-time social break gives time to relax and chat.

The class offers a 'Tea and Biscuits' welcome to dancing friends currently unable to dance. due to health or injury, to watch the class, enjoy the music and chat (£1).

This weekly class is for experienced dancers wanting to improve their dancing technique and knowledge of formations, and experience more complex and unusual dances. Awareness of the flow of dance and the art of dancing will be developed.

The class assumes advanced knowledge of steps and formations, aiming to make more complicated dances feel comfortable and fun. The watchwords are stretching the dancing and maximising the enjoyment of dancing.

This sociable class is suitable for both absolute beginners and dancers wishing to increase their knowledge of formations, dances and footwork. Live music adds to the atmosphere of the class which aims to get people moving as much as possible, enjoying the fun of Scottish country dancing.

No need to bring a partner as we are a very friendly class, rotating partners after each dance and enjoying a chat during our midway drink break.

The class will run during school terms, with the option for new dancers to try dancing for a 10-week introductory course for the reduced rate of £30 for the full course.

This class teaches dances predominantly for Leeds events but also other groups’ socials. A familiarity with steps and the more common formations is desirable. Less familiar formations and new formations are taught at the start of the evening. The class continues throughout the year, and all dancers are welcome to join us during the holidays.
